What an eye-catcher! The architectural office Gerkan, Marg and Partners (gmp) has designed a spectacular entrance to Mannheim’s art museum Kunsthalle Mannheim, which houses works by Francis Bacon, Vicent van Gogh and Paul Cézanne. The construction of the new building will start in 2014.

World-famous directors such as Wim Wenders, Jim Jarmusch and Lars von Trier showed their very first works here: At the International Film Festival Mannheim-Heidelberg yet unknown directors get a chance to present their new films to an audience of approximately 60,000 people. From 6th until 16th November 2014 the film festival is already in its 63rd edition – and is thus the second oldest film festival in Germany.
